Early Stage Equity: What is Working in Charlotte
The September 1st session of the Venture Knowledge series will have the following five speakers. All five have experience in raising funding in the Charlotte area for their early stage ventures:
Igor Jablokov of YAP - YAP has been named one of North Carolina's Companies to Watch and has successfully raised $8 million in Angel and VC funding. The Charlotte based company is a pioneer in cloud-based automated speech recognition.
Chris Halligan of OtherScreen - OtherScreen is the recent winner of a NC IDEA grant. The Charlotte based company blends mobile Internet, broadcast TV, user-generated content and social gaming to tackle partial viewer engagement.
Mike Feldman of T1Visions - T1Visions is a Charlotte based company that offers social touch solutions. The company has raised over $2 million in investment.
Alan Fitzpatrick of MailVu - MailVu is the 2011 Five Ventures Business Innovation Competition winner and NC Idea Finalist. The Charlotte based company is a full feature video platform which enables businesses and individuals to record and distribute video content.
Shafi Mustafa of OverstockAds - OverstockAds is a Charlotte based technology company that offers an innovative marketplace for the buying and selling of traditional advertising. The company was able to receive an equity capital investment prior to launch.
The Venture Knowledge program is offered monthly on the first Thursday at the Ben Craig Center Iverson Room. Sign-in and networking begin at 11:45am. Programs begin promptly at 12:00 and end at 1:20. Parking is free.
